Radio 2020 is issuing a call-to-action via their blog to have people petition to get FM radio on their cell phones. Â Although I see some value in a feature like that, I am wondering if it is worth the R&D since faster connections and more internet radio stations limit the necessity of this capability. Â Personally, I’d rather my iPhone have an FM transmitter so that I can send whatever I am listening to (internet radio, iPod) to an FM radio. Â That would improve the already great device immensely for me.
What are your thoughts? Â Should cell phone manufacturers be pushed to include FM receivers or should they focus on making their devices more internet-friendly?

Maybe broadcast radio should be more concerned about their magnitude of sucking before they worry about something like this.
Was I being snarky there? Guess so.
Snarky? Yes. Inappropriate? Not even a little. My thinking is that broadcast radio is seeing that they are losing listeners to choice-driven avenues such as internet radio, and this is one way in which they can try to maintain relevance.
